alterego is a completely original story by none other than ME! It's a huge WIP, but i can still tell you the basics.

GOVERNMENT

the whole world is controlled by circuses, each circus controlling one area of land as assigned to them by the largest circus, the Readmann’s circus. Being out of the ordinary is a crime that costs you your freedom. "Normal" orphans become stage crew that can be rented by circuses. People with disablities that are considered "moderate" or "light" (easier to live with) become Maintenance/Design for their circus, otherwise being killed at birth/diagnosis. They traditionally have their mouths sewn shut as to not disturb performers. People considered "normal" often live in poverty, surviving on the bare minimum. Those considered weird or out of the ordinary are forced to be sold to a circus or sometimes arrested by their area's circus if they or their guardian does not comply.

READMANN'S CIRCUS

The largest, oldest, and most powerful circus. Traditionally, when the Ringmaster retires/dies, the oldest son takes his place and title as Ringmaster. If the Ringmaster doesn't have a son, his favorite/the most normal circus performer becomes the next Ringmaster. A Ringmaster is known to be eccentric and impressive to the public, yet to the performers they tend to be cruel, uncaring, short-tempered. Their name is generally unknown. They do not make public appearences outside of the circus. The circus currently has 28 performers, not including in-training or Ringleader.
