Emesis Red is a Team Fortress 2 fanfiction inspired by Emesis Blue. The main plot is that the respawn machine has frequent errors that mix two (sometimes more) people into one. I've laid out this story more than alterego, so it's a lot harder to avoid spoilers here!

Team BLU
I meantioned that most ships are on team BLU. So why is that? Well, it's because they got mixes only after RED team's mixes started eating people. they got more time to get to know eachother without the fear of their friends eating them. Plus, their medic is not a mix, so they never had mixes unaware of their species. of course, their mixes are 10x worse, but they have eachother to rely on, not just their own, unreliable senses.
Mixes
So what even is a mix? I'm glad you asked! A mix is a monster that eats people in its sleep by turning into what is called a "hungered form". Most of the time, they present as a normal human being. Every mix has a unique hungered form, ranging from human-sized to 4 and a half times larger than Medic (this is the largest known size - they may be able to get larger), having all different kinds of non-human teeth, having different eyes, and more. Mixes are not made to digest humans and other mixes, but are actually made to digest medium to large mammals depending on their size. As a result, mixes are often malnourished and will occasionally throw up whole chunks of undigested food (throwing up is their bodies' only way of expelling waste). their lungs function as a stomach for what they eat in hungered form, and their intestines function as their lungs. any organs not needed for the digestive system, blood circulation, nervous system, or breathing are used for production of brain chemicals. The hungered form is largely inspired by My Little Pony infection AUs.

Team RED
as meantioned before, RED got mixes first. RED's strategy includes far more of a "wing it, dying is okay" mindset, where BLU is much more strategic, so of couse they die more. because they die more, their respawn machine gets backed up more frequently. Their Medic is also a mix of two totally different people, where the BLU Medic is entirely his own person.
BLU mixes
the BLU mixes are far more hostile and strategic than RED's. they are concious cannibals, feeding the other mercs eachother and then respawning them, plus they have total control over their hungered form. BLU PyroMed, Katherine, is the BLU mixes' leader. they are a yandere for Medic and are extremely jealous of Heavy. the only reason BLU Heavy has not been totally elimanated is because it would make their Medic extremely sad.
RED mixes
unlike BLU mixes, they are caused strong distress over their monsterous species. they try very hard to be normal humans, often pretending to totally forget the holes that eaten mixes create. they force themselves to forget anything they remember form the hungered form. they also vomit their food much more frequently than BLU mixes, because their distress only makes it harder to digest humanoid meat. they also have much more empathy.
What is the scientific organization from the end of the fic?
uhh it doesnt have a canon name- it kinda just popped up with the discovery of Austrailium. it conducts research on Austrailium powered devices (the respawn machine is powered by Austrailium in this fic) n the effects of Austrailium. hence why they want all the mixes. they kinda need them for reseach, but the lab sadly sees them more as animals and they are not AT ALL cruelty free. poor PyroMed dies of starvation a few months after the events of the fic.
